This study aimed to describe students' mathematical creative thinking skills based on academic level and gender in complex analysis course. This study was naturally qualitative and therefore the data collection techniques were in the forms of data test and interview. The participants were 112 undergraduate students in Mathematics Education Department in Pekanbaru, Indonesia who were taking Complex Analysis course. Based on gender, the result revealed that there was a difference in mathematical creative thinking between male and female students in solving problems of square root complex equation. Furthermore, based on academic level, the result showed that the students' mathematical thinking skills were in high, moderate, and low level. This result indicated that the students were able to solve problems in mathematics by their own way. However, they had not yet been able to demonstrate detail procedures to overcome those mathematical problems. © 2019, International Journal of Scientific and Technology Research. All rights reserved.
