Abstract

This study aims to see the effect of implementation of Problem-Base Learning (PBL) modeland the 5M model on critical thinking and science process skills is done with the integrated test results of the grade X of Madrasah Aliyah students for electrolyte and non electrolyte solutions topics. The population in this study was students of grade X of Madrasah AliyahNegeri in Yogyakarta and selected 61 students divided intotwo classes as a sample. The sample wasdetermined by purposive sampling technique. Data were obtained through a test using integrated-assessment instruments and their activities observations. The data analysis used the anova test at the significance level of 5%.The results showed that implementation of the problem-based learning model has better quality compared to learning with 5M model, both for critical thinking skills and science process skills. © 2018 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
