Abstract

Morse code is still used as a communication in the military and amateur radio organizations. To make it easier, we made a digital Morse code signaling device which works by using intermittent light. The aim was to get a device that can be used to make a communication using Morse code. To understand how optimal the device, we measure voltage and current when the device is used. We also measure voltage and current when the device is charged and collect the data to know how long the device is full. The result shows that the battery is full in 5 hours using a usual battery charger, and 10.55 hours using solar cell. Meanwhile, In the experiment of electrical load, the result shows that the battery can be used for 18.83 hours in flashlight mode and 22.62 hours in SOS mode. The device is able to produce the word SOS as much as 9499 times and the device is able to produce 28497 characters. © 2018 IEEE.
