Abstract

This qualitative case to explore the designing of the curriculum of initial teacher education in a public university in Indonesia. The curriculum was based on Indonesian teacher professionalism principles. The data were gathered through interviews from the respondents- teacher educators and document analysis. The study had revealed that teacher educators’ beliefs on teacher professionalism were rooted in the classic professionalism principles but accommodate new professionalism with used interpretivism paradigm and thematic analysis. The teacher educators exerted those beliefs on teacher professionalism and initial teacher education while designing both B.Ed and PPG curriculum by engaged with cultural factors such as participated in “Musyawarahmufakat” which was Indonesian deliberative consensus and engaged with structural factors in which either accommodatedothers’ power, authority and seniority or used their own power, authority and seniority. © 2019, Institute of Advanced Scientific Research, Inc.
