Improving the critical thinking skill of high school students: The context of tracker software applications

Abstract

This study aimed to improve students’ critical thinking skills using the Tracker software application. The research design used was a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design model. The samples in this study were all students of class X Science 5, totaling 34 students. The simple random sampling technique was used. The data collection methods used were tests, documentation, and observation. The Wilcoxon and N-gain tests were used to analyze the data. The result of the Wilcoxon test using SPSS IBM 25 showed that the sig. 2-tailed was 0.000, meaning that the value was < 0.05 so that Ha was accepted. The N-gain results obtained were 70% and included in the medium category. Thus, this study proved that the use of the Tracker software improved students’ critical thinking skills in the Work and Energy topic for class X Science 5 Public Senior High School 3 Yogyakarta. © 2025 Sociedad Mexicana de Fisica.
