Abstract

In academic societies, young people are freely competing to be the top level of athletes without fear of losing their future with and without educational degree certificate. In line with that issue, the present study aims to study the sport-related legal provisions and regulations among Elite student-athletes and staff in Yogyakarta public universities, Indonesia. The design of this study is a qualitative approach; the data collected with interviews, participant observation, and documentation fromtwo-targeted categories, consists of Elite student-athletes and university staff. The results of this study identified that the government has a role in setting up and implementing policies and regulations; the responsibility has not executed correctly. Also, the universities who have policies and regulations for elite student-athletes do not fully implement it. Besides, the universities who do not practice standardized policies and regulations solve the case to case basis. © 2020, Institute of Advanced Scientific Research, Inc.. All rights reserved.
