Design and Implementation of Electrical Power Factor Improvement Installation Training Unit

Abstract

This research aims to: (1) obtain a training module unit and its instructions as learning media. The training module unit media and virtual simulator are expected to improve the quality of effective and efficient learning/training activities on industrial electrical installation materials. (2) Knowing how to develop a hardware-shaped Power Factor Improvement installation training unit that prioritizes the achievement of improved student learning outcomes in vocational education. (3) Knowing how to develop a lighting electrical installation simulator in vocational education learning that affects student learning outcomes. This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) model and development of the ADDIE model, which has five stages, namely: (1) Analysis, (2) Design, (3) Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research subjects were students of the Vocational Electrical Engineering Education Department, Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University. Research results: (1) produce application products, units of training modules, and virtual simulators. (2) The feasibility of the application program in terms of assessment by material experts includes aspects of material content, learning aspects, and efficiency. All aspects of the material feasibility assessment scored 94.5 and were categorized as "Very Feasible". The feasibility of the application program in terms of assessment by media experts includes visual aspects, hardware aspects, usability aspects, and portability aspects. All aspects of the media feasibility assessment get an average score of 109.5 and are categorized as "Very Feasible." (3) For user response by students, include learning aspects, visual aspects, hardware aspects, usability aspects, and portability aspects. All aspects of user response by students received an average score of 107.1 and were categorized as "Very Good." © 2025 American Institute of Physics Inc.. All rights reserved.
