Abstract

One of the goals of implementing education is to equip students with 21st-century skills, including critical thinking, creative thinking, communication, and strong self-efficacy. One way that can be done is to carry out learning using a cooperative learning model and the Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) approach, which provides lots of questions, for example, quizzes with games, quizzes with applications, or questions that trigger students' answers according to their knowledge. On the other hand, vector material is one of the challenging materials in mathematics. Therefore, this research aims to determine the effect of the STAD approach in learning vector material to improve students' critical thinking, creative thinking, communication skills, and self-efficacy. This research is quasi-experimental, with a sample of 30 class X students. Researchers used test and non-test methods for data collection purposes, namely administering a self-efficacy questionnaire. Data analysis techniques include a t-test and an n-gain test. The research results show that modern STAD-type cooperative learning can improve students' critical thinking, creative thinking, communication, and self-efficacy skills. Therefore, teachers need to apply the cooperative learning model with the STAD approach to teach material with the same characteristics as vector material. © 2025 Author(s).
