The impovement of students 'self-confidence though problem based learning implementation

Abstract

This study was a clasroom action research aimed at improving elementary school student's self-confidence using problem-based learning as the intervention thematic-integrative teaching. The subjects of this study were 36 students grade IV A of SD Negeri Percobaan 2 Sleman, Yogyakarta. The data were collected using observation and questionnaire technique where the researcher was directly involved as a classroom teacher. The contribution of this study is to show that the implementation of problem-based learning can improve students' self-confidence. The percentages of students who chose "always"in the questionnaires of the pre-cycle, cycle I, and cycle II were 19.44%, 26.62%, and 50.81%, respectively. The aforementioned findings showed that Problem-based Learning (PBL) improved students' self-confidence. © 2020 ACM.
