Abstract

Each new wave of twenty first century technologies has made authorship and creativity increasingly collaborative. This paper aims to examine the paradigm shift provoked by virtual writers and AI co-writer on the Indonesian language, especially for foreign speakers. Using advanced natural language processing algorithms and machine learning techniques, AI systems can not only write, but co-author with human authors in a real-time context. The paper discusses how such technologies support and make accessible a creative process as a non-native Indonesian speaker illuminating how AI tools can facilitate the crossing of linguistic and cultural thresholds. Or else, it explores the ethical problems and dilemmas produced by virtual authorship and AI co-writing, calling attention to the necessity of maintaining the veracity and reliability of literary works. This article explores the revolutionary impact of AI on the creative landscape and Indonesian language literature as a promoter of cross-cultural exchange through a series of case studies and empirical research. © 2026 Author(s).
