Abstract

The Continental European legal system has colored the history of the Indonesian legal system. The Continental European system puts forward the tradition of written law. This is the beginning for the forerunner of Continental European law which can work and be dedicated in the Indonesian legal system. Based on this study, it can be concluded that: First, the types or characteristics of the Continental European legal system are found in terms of characteristics of law, in which continental Europe basically prioritizes a written law. Second, in the development of the legal system adopted by the Indonesian people, initially it tends to have a Continental European character. However, various kinds of legal systems complement and color the development of the Indonesian legal system overtime. Based on those explanations, it provides evidence that Indonesia is working on a legal system which has national characteristics in a legal system which applied in Indonesia. © 2021, Diponegoro University.
