Abstract

This study intends to conduct a needs analysis of English reading models for 21st-century business students by emphasizing their necessities and preferred learning strategies. Teaching reading to business students in this 21st century require teachers to consider specific learning needs aligned with their professional standards and utilize flexible, creative, and pertinent strategy to technological advancement and contemporary requirements. Since reading skills becomes crucial for helping them access a wider array of information and resources, understand several business journals, and promote significant collaboration in a global setting, it is essential to determine the particular requirements of business students in order to create reading models that address these needs. This research involved 187 business students from multiple Indonesian universities to investigate their needs of reading models in business context. Data were gathered through a structured questionnaire covering two main components of need analysis such as target needs and learning needs. The results indicated that business students believed English reading is essential for academic and professional purposes, particularly for upgrading business knowledge, mastering specialized material, and fostering critical thinking skills. Furthermore, students showed their tendency for the use of mobile applications, problem-solving tasks, and blended learning strategies by integrating instructional technologies such as Quizlet, Canva and Padlet for their interactive and adaptable learning experiences. © 2026 American Institute of Physics Inc..
