DIF content of math test on learning assessment in elementary school

Abstract

A test item is ideally fair to the entire group of participants who take it. However, sometimes it is found that test items benefit certain groups of participants. This can be identified through DIF analysis. This study identifies and analyzes DIF content on mathematics exam questions for Grade IV in elementary schools. This is a quantitative study conducted on a set of math exam questions. The math exam questions are in the form of multiple-choice consisting of 20 question items. The subjects in this study were fourth-grade elementary school students as test participants totaling 184 participants consisting of 91 males and 93 females. In addition, the subject of this research is also the test questions and answer sheets of test participants. The data was obtained through the process of documenting exam questions and participant answer sheets. Data were analyzed using the DIF Delta Angof method. The findings show that as many as 19 test items have good quality (free from DIF), while there is 1 significant item containing DIF. © 2022 Author(s).
