This research is to present learning strategies and teaching materials based on local wisdom for the purpose of teaching design Indonesian for speakers of other languages at Thammasat University and Normal University, Manila. This research makes use of qualitative approaches, such as participant observation (also known as participant observation), in-depth interviews, and documentation to collect information for the study. The findings of this study indicate that: 1) The future of Indonesian in Thailand and the Philippines demonstrates that the formation of diplomatic connections and education, as well as the language's potential to become the official language of ASEAN member states, are in Indonesian's favor. 2) The BIPA educational system in Indonesia Learners are expected to achieve mastery in the following four abilities, as outlined in the curriculum developed by the Central Agency for Diplomacy: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. 3) The BIPA materials taught in Thailand and the Philippines are adapted to meet the needs of international students. As a result, BIPA students in those countries are able to speak Indonesian in both a formal and an informal setting and are conversant with Indonesian cultural practices. 4) Traditional BIPA teaching in Thailand and the Philippines was the vehicle through which Indonesian culture was introduced. As a result of this, the use of BIPA has gained significant significance in Thailand and the Philippines due to the fact that it is the official language of the ASEAN Economic Community. © 2022, Universitas PGRI Sumatera Barat.
