Development of test instrument multiple representations for high school students on liniear motion

Abstract

This study focuses on developing a physics test instrument to measure the multiple representations ability of high school students on linear motion. The purposes of this study are 1) to determine the construction of a physics test instrument to measure the multiple representations ability of high school students in linear motion materials and 2) to determine the feasibility of a physics test instrument to measure the multiple representations ability of high school students in linear motion. The development of this instrument was carried out using the modified development method of the Wilson, Oriondo, and Antonio development models. The items were tested on 301 senior high school students in Central Java Province and Yogyakarta Special Region. Item content validity was given to three experts and analyzed using Aiken's method. As for the item analysis of the instrument using the PCM 1 PL method with the help of Quest. The results of this study were in the form of a test instrument to measure the multiple representations ability of high school students on linear motion concept consisting of 20 two-tier multiple-choice questions with 15 items measuring representation ability in various form of representations and 5 items measuring ability to translate among representations. These items are valid, fit the PCM 1 PL model, have very good reliability with a score of 0.84, and have a good level of difficulty. The results of item analysis showed that the instrument developed was feasible to measure high school student's multiple-representations ability on linear motion in the aspects of student's representation ability in many forms of representations and student's ability to translate among representations. © 2023 Author(s).
