This research is a follow-up study of the road map made for three years, starting from 2020 to 2022. This research is phase 2 to develop online learning strategies during the pandemic and improve student competence in welding lectures. The method used in this research is to use research and development (Research and Development). This study uses the stages of Step 1) Research and information collecting (research and data collection), 2) Planning (planning), 3) Develop a preliminary form of product (development of the initial form of the product). Students of the Mechanical Engineering Education S1 study program in 2021 have results, namely Interpersonal Intelligence (77.66%), Intrapersonal (74.35%), Kinesthetic (72.68%), Mathematical Logic (71.81%), Verbal-Linguistics (71.28%), Visual-Spatial (70.36%), Musical (68.93%), Naturalist (60%), and Existential (57.78%). The most dominant intelligence students possess in the Mechanical Engineering Education undergraduate study program in 2020 and 2021 is interpersonal intelligence, which is 78.91% in 2020 and 77.66% in 2021. This research is continued with the development of welding learning strategies based on the dominance of interpersonal intelligence. Students of the Mechanical Engineering Education S1 study program can be categorized into three groups, namely a) Have good social relations with the people around them, b) Show a tendency to like social interaction, and c) Can work in a team well. The learning strategy that is considered appropriate for welding lectures based on interpersonal intelligence is Talking Chips Learning which requires students to be active in lectures by forcing each individual to express his opinion about the lecture material with the help of chips, cards, or other tools that can be used. © 2023 Author(s).
