Abstract

This study aims to determine the drop test resistance in the form of energy and the form of damage to bulletproof panels made of ramie fiber through ANSYS software simulation. To determine the shape of the damage and the energy graph of the panel, a drop test simulation was carried out using ANSYS software by taking several layers of ramie fiber. The number of layers varies from 3, 6, 9, to 12 laminates. The results of the drop test show that the value of kinetic and total energy on the panel and the shape of the panel damage. The deformation results from the bullet proof panel drop test simulation experience greater damage with increasing force applied to the penetrator at each thickness of the panel. The kinetic energy from the drop test simulation gets a larger value compared to the thickness of the panel. The total energy from the drop test simulation gets a graph form that has a longer graph delay time due to the increasing thickness of the panel and the greater the value. simulation validation is seen from the similarity of kinetic energy between simulation results and experiments with a similarity of 98.45%. © 2023 Author(s).
