Effective teachers are an important quality of education to be developed. This research aims to describe high school mathematics teachers in Indonesia from the following aspects: (1) the effectiveness, and (2) the affecting factors of its effectiveness. This research was a survey research. This research was conducted from October to November 2020. The research samples were 27 teachers of high school in Indonesia. Data collection was conducted through questionnaires and documentation study. The data analysis technique used was descriptive analysis which quantitative data analysis consists of (1) categorization techniques and (2) inferential analysis using regression. The results showed that high school mathematics teachers in Indonesia were in the category of sufficient and teacher training contributes negatively to effective mathematics teachers. The researcher also found that mathematics teachers needed training related to Classroom Action Research, Lesson Study, making research journals/Scientific Papers, mathematics teacher training/training workshops (scientific forum), mathematics teacher training/workshops (learning community) as an effort to improve the quality of learning and professional development as a teacher. © 2023 Author(s).
