Optimizing the Application of LCDS and PBL Models as an Effort to Improve Scientific Attitudes Students' in Learning Physics Online Mode During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Abstract

Physics learning carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic, must be held online. Learning physics that needs to involve scientific activities, and fostering a scientific attitude is the main obstacle in online learning. Focusing on this research, it aims to apply electronic learning media with LCDS and problem-based learning models to be able to improve scientific attitudes in online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. A qualitative approach is used in this study by applying Participatory Action Research with the Wadsworth model. The research was carried out at SMA Negeri 1 Boyolali during the COVID-19 pandemic, with students studying physics in class X. The contribution of physics teachers as key informants or as the main data source. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and self-assessment questionnaires. The triangulation technique was used to obtain valid data. The valid data were analyzed through the steps of collecting data, data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification following the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model. The results of the case study research at SMA Negeri 1 Boyolali concluded that the application of LCDS learning media and PBL models in online physics learning can improve students' scientific attitudes, especially in the components of curiosity and objectivity. The use of these learning strategies can be optimal if students' needs are met and the infrastructure needed during learning supports. © 2023 American Institute of Physics Inc.. All rights reserved.
