Abstract

This research aims to make a press caliper as a tool for installing brake pistons at the PT. Sun Star Motor Kudus for faster and easier service. The process of making press caliper brakes consists of identification, design, tool making, and testing stages. Based on the identification of tool requirements, the size, material, and shape requirements to be made are obtained. After getting the desired data, a Press Caliper design was made as a Brake Piston Pressing Tool for Disc Brake Service in accordance with the brake service process. The next stage is the process stages such as steel selection, steel measurement, steel cutting, steel welding and refining and painting, and the last step is testing the tool by direct loading with attention to safety and mechanical working time when performing the brake service process using or not using assistive devices. The result of the manufacture is a Press Caliper with a length of 18 cm, a width of 5 cm and a height of 9.5 cm. The Brake Piston Pressing Tool can shorten the pressing time of the disc brake piston from 1.14 seconds to 31 seconds. This tool also makes it easier for mechanics to work on servicing and reduces piston injuries The Brake Piston Pressing Tool can shorten the pressing time of the disc brake piston from 1.14 seconds to 31 seconds.
