This article analyzed the narratives of patients as one of the most productive methods of psychotherapeutic work with adults, particularly work aimed at the development of man, his manhood. The authors paid special attention to the problems of the metaphors of the signals and triggers a psychological transformation. The aim of the study was to analyze the problems of anticipating and minimizing the stress of changes in the life of a person (patient). The research method was theoretically understanding of the problems of anticipating and minimizing the stress of changes in the life of a person (patient). The main results of the study showed the patient overcame estrangement from himself and the world, liminality. A metaphor in a person’s life acts as a signal and a trigger for change: its use, one way or another, reveals zones that are subject to changes and stimulates changes themselves. Metaphors manifest themselves in various archetypal structures and in specific metaphors of role models. They allow you to evaluate the direction of the patient’s internal movement towards the realization of a particular motivation, intention, support upward and/or slow down downward intentions, as well as comprehend how the patient perceives external changes, how he experiences stress of changes. © 2024 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
