Abstract

Technological advances have influenced the planning of the construction sector. Indonesia through the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Regulation No. 22 of 2018 instructs that all developments with an area of over 2,000 m2 are required to be integrated, one of which is through BIM. Yogyakarta State University is one of the best universities in Indonesia which is still developing infrastructure in the vocational through the construction of the Entrepreneurship Building. In general, the planning carried out by UNY is still conventional, not yet fully integrated with BIM. This study aims to: 1) find out what the level of difficulty is when planning using BIM; and 2) find out how big the level of volume efficiency is through the application of BIM for architectural work items. This study uses a comparative approach. The object used is the planning of the Yogyakarta State University Entrepreneurship Building located on the Wates Vocational Campus, Kulon Progo, DIY. Aspects that are reviewed are architectural works including: wall work, floor coverings, and roof coverings. Data were collected by comparing the output volume of conventional planning with BIM. Data were analyzed comparatively through description. The results of this study include: 1) the level of difficulty in planning using BIM for architectural work items in the construction of the Yogyakarta State University Entrepreneurship Building, among others: determine the suitability of the coordinates of the work items on the drawing, determine the suitability of the type of material used, and determine the position of the slices between work items; 2) the average level of volume efficiency through the application of BIM for architectural work items includes: wall work by 5.446%; floor covering work by 2.073%. © 2023 Author(s).
