Abstract

Video is a popular learning media for flipped classroom design. This study aimed to develop a demonstration video on making crispy boneless milkfish for the Food Preservation Technology course in Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta and determine the video feasibility. This study applied a research and development approach, using Borg and Gal model. The video consisted of host and demonstration sessions with various camera angles. The video was recorded using two Sony MD1000 cameras and yellow tungsten lighting. It was edited using Adobe Premiere ProCC 2017. Text annotations and pictures were inserted in several scenes. The video feasibility was assessed by a media expert, a content expert, three teachers, three peer reviewers, six students for individual testing, 30 students for classroom testing, and 45 students for operational field testing. Based on this assessment, the video was considered very feasible. The video was then uploaded to the YouTube channel and embedded in the Moodle-based learning management system. The improvement of cognitive skills was assessed using a single group pre-test and post-test design. The difference between pre-test and post-test was then analyzed using a paired T-test. The video helps in improving students' cognitive skills and readiness to perform practical activity, significantly at p<0.05. © 2023 American Institute of Physics Inc.. All rights reserved.
