Distance learning forces the experimental activities in laboratory could not be carried out properly. Virtual laboratory is an innovation in technology that provides a visualization of the real laboratory environment through a software such as computers. Chemistry virtual laboratory used as learning media that provide students to understand the experimental procedures before they enter a real laboratory. Chemistry virtual laboratory have been widely used in the learning process. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to assess the impact of using a chemistry virtual laboratory in the learning process by scoping review method. Obtained 8 relevant articles, selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The use of a chemistry virtual laboratory in the learning process is considered to be as effective as a real laboratory. Students can improve their experimental self-efficacy, research skills and practices, problem-solving skills, scientific literacy, and conceptual understanding of chemistry by using a chemistry virtual laboratory. © 2023 ACM.
