Abstract

The application layer of the IoT architecture can guarantee a large number of users will receive same data and information in real time. These features and services will be used as a fundamental idea to create and develop the IoT-supported collaborative learning media. Next a conceptual design of the IoT-supported collaborative learning media is created and proposed. The overall research through four main stages: literature studies, observation and analysis on the practicum class of renewable energy, formulating the conceptual design of an IoT-supported learning media to support collaborative learning and developing an IoT-supported collaborative learning media as a proof of concept. Google spreadsheet is utilized to realize in the middleware layer that supporting the services in application layer. As the research result, a conceptual design of IoT-based learning media to support collaborative learning has been developed and issued. Furthermore, a trainer kit to support collaborative learning in renewable energy class has been developed as a proof of concept. The test results show that the IoT-supported learning media (trainer kit) can be used in the PLTS renewable energy practicum with several students and the lecturer to perform collaborative learning together. Since there are no handwriting activity, the students and lecturer together can monitor, study and analyzing the main parameters of PLTS in real time manner. This also proves that the conceptual design can be used as a reference while developing a trainer kit for supporting collaborative learning in renewable energy class. © 2024 IEEE.
