One of the important skills for students to have in the 21st century is scientific literacy skill. The purpose of this study was to determine the profile of scientific literacy skills based on the competence of environmental change issues of 1st-grade science of High School students at Public Senior High School 2 South Bengkulu. The results of this study are expected to provide information about the initial ability of scientific literacy regarding the concept of environmental change for the 1st-grade science of High School students at Public Senior High School 2 South Bengkulu. The study was conducted at Public Senior High School 2 South Bengkulu with 1st-grade science class students as the subjects. The sampling technique used the purposive sampling technique, with a total sample of 34 students of 1st-grade science of Public Senior High School 2 South Bengkulu. The research instrument used in this study was a scientific literacy test based on indicators of scientific literacy competence according to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The scientific literacy test instrument used several environmental change issues that occurred in Bengkulu. The data analysis technique was a descriptive statistical analysis. The result of this study showed that students had scientific literacy skills in the moderate category as much as 55.88% or 19 students. Scientific literacy competency aspect that categorized into the moderate category, such as, 1) Planning and evaluating scientific investigations, 2) Concluding and interpreting scientific data. The aspect of elaborating scientific phenomena was categorized into the low category. The environmental issue with the highest percentage score was "Impact of oil palm plantations (Elaeis guineensis) in Bengkulu". © 2024 Author(s).
