This study aims to determine the effect of the transmission gear ratio on the acceleration performance of the EV 22 Garuda UNY Team car. The research method used MATLAB R2022a Sponsored-use version. The object used in this study is the EV 22 car transmission system which uses a Golden 10 KW 48V BLDC electric motor as the main driver and uses a single-speed transmission. There are five final gear ratio variables that are simulated, namely 4:1, 5:1, 6:1, 7:1, and 8:1. Testing vehicle acceleration performance by simulating the vehicle's movement with maximum throttle opening during a predetermined distance. The time it takes the vehicle to cover a distance of 150 meters, vehicle 0-60 km/h acceleration time, and vehicle speed at the finish line are observed as acceleration performance to determine the best final transmission gear ratio. The simulation results show that the gear ratio affects the achievement of vehicle acceleration performance. The greater the ratio, the output torque will increase, making it suitable for acceleration categories that require large traction. However, the higher the gear ratio will also reduce the vehicle's maximum speed due to the electric motor's limited rpm. The best gear ratio is by using a gear ratio of 6:1 with a travel time of 150 meters of 11.66, the acceleration for 0-60 km/h takes 6.92 seconds, and a vehicle speed when reaching the finish line of 63.4 km/hour. © 2024 Author(s).
