Abstract

The compressor is widely used in manufacturing to provide an air supply to production machine, including CNC machine. However, in some cases, the air supply from the compressor is not supplied efficiently due to air leakage in standby mode. This issue can significantly waste energy and increase operating costs in regions with high electricity prices, such as Somaliland. A solution to eliminate energy leakage is needed. This research aims to solve this issue by implementing an integrated system that reduces energy waste caused by compressed air leakage during standby mode. This paper is based on the TRIZ approach with a pilot applied experimental methods in case study at a company in Somaliland. The result led to the successful implementation and testing of a control system that integrated the operations of the compressor machine and CNC machine. Compared to the conventional ball valve components, the new system replaced it with an automatic air control valve integrated with the CNC machine emergency button. Electricity consumption on the compressor machine was observed and calculated for six months before improvement and six months after implementing the improvements. The data collected for six months showed a significant decrease in electricity consumption, from 5,491 kWh to 4,915 kWh indicating 10.49% energy saving. © 2025 IEEE.
