This study aims to determine the driving techniques required for urban gasoline-fueled vehicles in the Shell Eco-marathon Asia 2019 competition. This research method is experimental research. The subject under study was the driving technique of a driver when testing fuel at the Shell Eco-marathon Asia 2019 competition held at the Sepang Circuit, Malaysia. The method of collecting data in this research is to write down the necessary data such as vehicle speed, distance traveled, engine running time, changes in the IGH (internal gear hub) gear ratio, and the position of the starter engine. Analysis of the data used is to analyze and review the data generated at the beginning of the competition preparation process until the completion of the competition. The results of this study indicate that evaluating the fuel can take advantage of the vehicle's existing parameters, such as the high engine speed and gear ratio IGH. Additionally, the driver should take advantage of the downhill and uphill roads. To ensure that the vehicle uses less energy, the driver should use a high engine speed on uphill roads and start the engine when downhill. If the vehicle is traveling at least 25 kilometers per hour, this is achievable. © 2024 Author(s).
