Purpose: This paper seeks to demonstrate how, in times of constraint, an online model-based approach based on a specific embodied learning philosophy may be able to assist physical education (PE) teachers and students in meeting their learning goals. Design/methodology/approach: This qualitative study, which analyzes PE instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic in Malaysia and Indonesia, includes 146 PE teachers from secondary schools in both nations. All those teachers' emails received a Google Forms-based qualitative online survey with open-ended questions. To create categories and themes, the data were subjected to a systematic qualitative data analysis procedure that involved coding of generating themes. Findings: The study’s findings show that, even in periods of COVID-19 pandemic restriction, there is always a method to apply embodiment theory to meet learning objectives. Originality/value: By considering the body and mind as one unit and taking necessary steps to plan, organize, carry out, assess, and evaluate teaching and learning processes, these goals may be met. © 2025, Emerald Publishing Limited.
