This study documented macrofungal diversity across three forest tracks—Turgo, Bingungan, and Tritis—within Turgo National Park, located on the slopes of Mount Merapi, Indonesia in 2017. A total of 133 macrofungal specimens were col-lected, with species richness varying by site: 48 species in Turgo Forest, 38 in Bingungan, and 52 in Tritis. Diversity, assessed via the Shannon-Weiner index, ranged from 2.01 in Turgo to 2.521 in Tritis, indicating moderate to high ecologi-cal diversity. Sørensen similarity indices revealed minimal overlap between forest communities (<0.1), suggesting high habitat specificity. Morphogroup analysis identified agarics as the dominant type, with ecological importance values peaking at 274 % in Turgo Forest. Other morphogroups, including jelly, polypores, club, and cup fungi, varied in presence and abundance among sites. Vegetation composi-tion appeared to influence fungal distribution, with Bingungan Forest showing the highest plant diversity but lower fungal diversity than the coniferous forest in Tritis. A total of 26 macrofungi were identified as edible, inedible, or medicinal, in-cluding a prominent local edible species, Auricularia delicata, and a wild Cordyceps specimen associated with an insect host. These findings highlight the ecological distinctiveness of each site and the potential nutritional, medicinal, and conserva-tion value of macrofungi in tropical volcanic forests.
